Fitler Square Residence

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

This center-city Philadelphia 3-story townhouse was blessed with a deep backyard allowing for an extension of ten feet when tearing down and rebuilding the existing 2-story rear kitchen & family room. The house was opened up from front to back allowing the large dry kitchen island to become the center of family gatherings. The 2nd floor family room is flooded with light and features prominent built-ins. The new 3rd floor deck finishes out the addition. Stairs were entirely replaced to eliminate a turn at the top, but existing trim was maintained and carefully extended so that this central feature of the house retains its historic character. Renovations throughout, including a new primary bath, complete this whole-house makeover.
