Foster Road Compound

Chester Springs, Pennsylvania

This compound occupies a prominent ridge line overlooking rolling fields once the home to Olympic caliber horses. Six existing structures included the main 1840's-era manor house, a 1700's era farm house, a spring house, a tractor shed, a two-story garage and an imposing bank barn. The main house was doubled in size with the addition of a new kitchen, great room, office, primary bedroom suite and plenty of play space for the grandchildren. A new two-car garage building nestles into the hillside and connects to the house via a covered walkway. The 1700's house was fully restored including a complete re-build of its traditional raised porch structure. The tractor shed restoration included replacing a tool shed addition with a new green house to support the client's avid gardening work. Finally, the barn's lower level was fitted with new steel long-span beams opening up the space for an indoor pool.
